Jump and Throw Cards in this Peculiar Action Game

Drawn Down Abyss is an action game that lets you travel down to The Abbys in search of the bottom. Developed and published by DaFluffyPotato, this strange combination of classic platforming gameplay and turn-based combat with cards is a game that surprisingly works well. It adds more of a challenge to platformer games on top of the difficulty of surviving against the various bloodthirsty denizens of The Abyss. In the game, players were drawn to the mystery of The Abyss and now need to find out what’s down. Fortunately, you’ll get a myriad of abilities you can use to make the path safe for you.

Fall Down the Hole

From the description alone, this is not your typical platformer or strategy game. It’s a hybrid of a platformer game and a card game that uses a unique action-oriented approach to fighting off enemies. Instead of slashing through the oncoming danger or jumping on top of it to comically vanquish it, Drawn Down abyss gives you a set number of ability cards that you can play any time you need. Powers like Shadow Slice, Burn, and Rock Burst are offensive attacks that you’ll be needing in order to defeat the Abyss monsters and clear out each section. There are also some passive cards like Draw 2 cards, Teleport, and Heal that can equally be of great help. You don’t have to worry about the cards you use since they won’t disappear when played—they’ll only consume your energy, which thankfully replenishes over time. Another fortunate thing is that whenever you use what card to use next, time pauses and lets you decide in peace. This is a great mechanic, as you can lure a crowd of monsters and hit them all with one card if you time your pausing right. Take note, however, that most of the abilities have a set radius that they will affect and time resumes quickly once you’re out of the card menu. You can get a variety of cards as you explore the map, though, so there’s bound to be good new cards you can add to your deck. All in all, this is an interesting game to play.
